About Mată Studio
A neighborhood practice room in Cluj-Napoca where yoga, pilates, and stretching share one wooden floor and a calm clock.
Why we opened on Memorandumului
Mată Studio grew from a simple wish: a place in central Cluj where adults could practice without loud playlists, crowded drop-in chaos, or marketing language that overpromises. We chose Str. Memorandumului for its walkable street life and daylight—close to downtown errands, far enough from nightlife noise to keep evenings steady.
The name nods to the mat itself: the small rectangle where attention returns. We keep that idea practical. Mats are laid before class. Props sit on open shelves. Instructors arrive early to set reformers and check straps. The room should feel ready when you step in, not like a warehouse you assemble yourself.
We teach movement for ordinary weeks—desk days, parenting days, travel-recovery days—not for social media highlights. There are no medical claims on our walls or in our emails. If something feels sharp, we help you modify. If you want stronger work, we point you toward pilates tempo and reformer springs.
How the room works
Teachers
Our instructors share a preference for clear, unhurried cues. They demonstrate, then walk. Feedback stays kind and specific—“soften the ribs,” “press through the outer heel”—so you can adjust without guessing. Continuing education focuses on teaching skills and equipment safety, not on selling miracle routines.
Community tone
Phones stay in bags during class. Conversations happen in the hallway before and after. We welcome first-timers beside long-time regulars; open-level classes assume mixed experience and offer seated options by default.
What we do not do
We do not diagnose, prescribe, or claim to treat injuries or conditions. We do not run aggressive package pressure. We do not stack classes so tightly that cleaning and reset disappear. The floor needs a breath between groups—so do you.
Light, wood, and enough space
Large windows keep mornings bright without harsh glare. Hardwood underfoot stays warm enough for bare feet in most seasons; socks are welcome on cooler days. A mirrored wall supports pilates foot placement; the opposite side stays freer for yoga and stretch so you are not always watching yourself.
We clean between peak blocks, air the room when weather allows, and keep fragrance light. If you are sensitive to scent, tell us—we can skip optional diffuser use that day.
